Students will be working on narrative, expository, and argumentative writing at East Middle School this year. Identifying these types of writing, knowing the components, and beginning the amazing process of writing will put you on the path to achieve a level of proficiency in writing.
Check out our EMS library at ramslib.org. Mrs. Wanke and Mrs. Grimes have been working hard to prepare our library for our Ram Readers. There are also links to many on-line sources which have been purchased just for our building! This is a great way to build background knowledge. All that is needed is your student's ID# and password.
Also, check out Moodle, provided through Great Falls Public Schools. This is a safe environment with classes set up by teachers for students to have monitored discussions, upload assignments or projects, and much more.

How do you know what level of text is appropriate for you? All students will take a MAP assessment. Results of this assessment will indicate a Lexile number. When you get this number, check out lexile.com and find lists of books that fall within your lexile range, or type a title of a book to find its lexile number. Don't pick something too easy, but enough to challenge you as a reader.
